My Current Daily Supplements

Supplements! Let’s discuss!

“What supplements do you take?” is one of the top 5 questions I get asked on the daily and while I’m ready to give you the run-down, I need you to keep this in mind:

  • You do not need to take supplements to lose weight.

  • You do not need to take supplements to be healthy.

  • You do not need to take supplements to LIVE.

However. We don’t always get the optimal amount of nutrients that we need through our diet, EVEN if you eat a healthy, whole food diet.

For example, it can be tough to get enough high-quality omega 3 fatty acids if you don’t want to eat fatty fish a few times/week (also - it’s expensive!).

It’s also nearly impossible to consume enough vitamin D if you are breastfeeding.

And if you’re pregnant, even if you’re eating like a total boss, you REALLY ought to include a good prenatal because if you’re not getting enough of something...that baby is going to leach it from your system, leaving YOU deficient in those nutrients later on down the line!

At the time I’m writing this, I’m 3 months postpartum and I’m breastfeeding. For each supplement, I’ll give you a brief explanation as to why I’m taking it, so you can decide if it might be right for you.

And GREAT NEWS - A few supplements I take every day are from Perfect Supplements and they are running a great little sale right now through 1/28. The code NUTRITIONADDICTION gets you:

just thrive probiotic & antioxidant

As with anything, make sure you consult your doctor before starting a new supplement regimen.

Just Thrive Probiotics - I live by these things. Many of you know I started taking these spore-based probiotics during pregnancy and my AWFUL constipation issues were cleared up immediately. I mean truly, not a day goes by that I don’t poop. It’s really beautiful.

Your microbiome in the gut is also directly correlated to the neurotransmitter in your brain, so happy belly = happy life. Even better? NUTRITIONADDICTION gets you 15% off your first order. More questions about probiotics? Check this out.

omax 3 omega-3 supplement (inflammation support)

Omax Omega-3 Fatty Acids - I started taking Omega-3’s during pregnancy since they’re great for baby’s brain development, but recently I tried this brand when I heard it being advertised on a podcast. Guys…..it’s like, the BEST Omega-3 I’ve ever tried, hands down.

How do I know? Because I can feel it. I actually get more focused when I take these and I’m not crazy bc my husband says the same thing. He’s ADD AF and can’t go a day without them.

Here’s a list of the benefits of taking omega-3’s. Most of us don’t get enough, so I recommend everyone take these.

perfect supplements vitamin d

*Perfect Vitamin D - I truly believe vitamin D is going to be the next probiotic….meaning, we’re going to really start understanding how insanely important this vitamin is and that almost no one gets enough of it without supplementation. Not only does it maintain bone health, but it supports metabolism, immune, brain, cardiovascular, and nervous systems.

And! Did you know most babies are deficient in vitamin D because there isn’t enough present in breastmilk? Know why? Yeah, cuz WE don’t get enough of it. The most recent research shows we need to be supplementing with 6400 IU/day to get enough for ourselves and our babies.

I took this particular brand during pregnancy and I went from being deficient to having perfect levels of vitamin D. Now, I alternate between taking 1 and 2 pills/day to support myself and my baby.

perfect supplements desiccated liver

*Perfect Supplements Desiccated Liver - Omg, are you sick of hearing me talk about this yet? Desiccated liver is sort of the natural equivalent to a “multi-vitamin” because it’s loaded with B vitamins, Vitamin D, folate and a ton of other micronutrients (zinc, copper) that otherwise are difficult to get daily. Plus, it comes in a form that the body easily recognizes since it is a whole food.

When I’m not pregnant or breastfeeding, I don’t take a multivitamin because this is good enough for me. Plus, IT GIVES ME SO MUCH ENERGY. Seriously, it’s gotta be the B vitamins. And it’s not just me, I get DMs every day about how amazing this product is for energy levels.

premama postnatal vitamin

Premama Postnatal Multivitamin

I wanted to take a postnatal multi just to be sure I was getting enough of everything. Breastmilk takes priority on nutrients, so I didn’t want to become deficient in anything. Kinda like an insurance policy, ya know?

I liked this particular brand because of the PQQ (Pyrroloquinoline quinone) which is supposed to combat “baby brain” (THAT’S REAL).

It also contains patented Saffserene which is clinically proven to enhance mood and help fight postpartum depression. I have *no* idea if it’s actually helped any PPD on my part, but I have to say, my mood stabilized pretty well 2 weeks after having Tulie and I have a history of PPD and depression in my family. I’ll take it!

That’s it! Yes, there are other supplements I take, too. But these are the ones I take every single day. They’re in my little supplement case so I won't forget.

And if you wanted to really take advantage of that Perfect Supplements sale this week (outlined it in the intro if you skipped that part), I also LOVE their Collagen Peptides (I’ve put these in my coffee for years), MCT Oil (I give to my dog to manage her seizures and I also put in coffee if I need extra brainpower), and Bone Broth (it’s powdered so keeps forever), so if you wanted to package 3 together, these would be some of my additional picks!

Some of the links on this page contain affiliate links, which means I get paid a lil bit of money if you purchase something I recommend. I would never, ever recommend a product I wouldn’t purchase myself (that’s so gross).
